ABOUT SUE

face

Sue Spang is a teaching artist, print designer and doublebassist residing in Seattle, Washington.

After earning a B.A. in Classical Languages in Literature from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin (and racking up thousands of hours playing bass in the Lawrence University Jazz Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and numerous smaller groups) Sue attended the University of Toronto's MA/Ph.D. program in Book History and Print Culture for a year before heading for the hills. In 2009, she moved to Seattle to dogsit for the summer and never left.

From 2012-15, Sue worked in various capacities at Seattle non-profit The Greater Seattle Bureau of Fearless Ideas (formerly 826 Seattle) and most recently served as the literacy-focused non-profit's Programs and Publishing Manager. She designed and produced all in-house chapbooks and worked on the production of large-scale publications as well.

She now works full-time as a freelance teacher, musician, and designer.

Sue loves a traditionally-made old fashioned, is a pretty good ice hockey goaltender, and has encyclopedic knowledge of Peter Gabriel's entire catalogue, especially the Genesis stuff.
